Shri Om Prakash Singh was born on 6 February 1946. He served as Irrigation Minister in UP in 1991-92 and 1997-2002. He has also served as the President of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2000, and as the leader of the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2007–12. Chunar assembly seat of Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh is the most prosperous area among all the 5 assembly constituencies in the district. Seven times former Irrigation Minister Shri Om Prakash Singh became MLA.
